What to do if you have lost your Snow Leopard or Tiger Install DVD..

So if your running Mountain Lion or Lion you dont need to do this because when you start up and press alt you can start up in Recovery HD wich is the same as a install DVD however this tutorial will work for lion ar mountain lion just i dont get why you would need to. So for Snow leopard and Tiger you need to download them either pay for them or you can download them for free of a site like Pirate Bay if you cant find it leave a comment and i will show you where i downloaded mine. Now once they have downloaded you have two options, you can either burn it onto a DVD or install it onto a USB drive.

DVD Burn:
Now this one is fairly obvious all you need to do is:
1. Insert a blank DVD (you can get them here) and then open Disk Utility.
2. Click on Burn in the top left corner and select your Mac OS that you downloaded and let it do its thing.
3. Once its finished eject the DVD and turn off your computer. Once turned off reinsert the DVD and turn on the computer pressing C before the Apple logo appears. This will tell it to boot of the CD
4. Let it start up and from there you can partition your disk, erase your disk, reset your password or re-install Mac OS X.

USB Install:
So for this you need a 8 Gb USB thumb Drive Minimum 16 GB is Recommended.
1. Insert your Thumb drive and open Disk Utility.
2. Select the drive form the tab on the left and click on the Erase tab.
3. Select Mac OS X extended journaled and click Erase. WARNING this will Erase the data on the USB Drive!
4. Once its finished erasing find your Mac OS file and make sure it is a .dmg file (if its not rename it to XXX.dmg) then double click on it to mount the file.
5. Then go back onto Disk Utility and click on the Restore tab. There now should be your DMG that you just mounted with a dive below it.
6. Drag the mounted DMG drive into source and drag the thumb Drive into the Destination Box.
7. Click Restore..
8. Now When it is done restart your computer hold alt before the apple symbol appears and select the Mac OS X Install DVD drive!
9. Let it start up and from there you can partition your disk, erase your disk, reset your password or re-install Mac OS X.
