How To Change your Macs Dock and General Icons

In this blog i will be showing you how you can change your apple macs icons in lion mountain lion and any other version of mac. Mine currently look like this:

So there is the manual way and the easy fast way. Your probable thinking the easy fast way right? Well even tho its very handy it doesn't work 100% of the time. For example changing your icons in mountain lion has become harder and some of the programs used have not caught up yet. First i will do the easy install.

Easy Way

First you are gunna need some icons to replace your current ones. Here are a few websites your can download them from:
mac.appstorm
findicons.com
weloveicons.com

Ok once you have done that you can download and install a program called Litelcon. And all you need to do is drag the icon you want to replace with the ones you have downloaded. If that all worked perfectly and nice then there is no need to move on (unless you want to no a little more about the topic).

Manual Way

So you have downloaded your icons and want to change them the Manuel way for whatever reason..
1. Find the file, folder or app, right click and select get info.
2. Go to the icon you have downloaded and want and also select get info.
3. Click the downloaded icon as shown below (Called Network) and hit cmd c (copy) then select the google chrome icon and hit cmd v (paste)...
4. For this change to happen in your dock you can either log off, take the app out of your dock then re-drag the application back to your dock or restart/refresh your dock.

What to do if the icons you downloaded are pictures.. Or do you want to make your own photos an icon?

So you have downloaded some icons or have a picture you want to make an icon or folder cover, you click get info and you are met with this:
Its not the icon you want its the default apple picture icon.
Dont worry all you need to do is open this icon/picture in preview drag your mouse over the whole picture and click cmd c (copy) then just paste it in the get info part of the file, folder or apps icon your trying to change.

But wait how do i change the finder icon?

Ok so this is going to be a little bit harder but if your eager view my blog on it here : http://www.all-things-tech.co.uk/2013/01/how-to-change-finder-trash-and-all.html
