How to get OS X Mavericks For Free! No Developer Account!

In this post i will show you how to get OS X Mavericks Developer Preview free on your Mac! This is the new OS for Mac and includes things like Finder Tabs, Ibooks, IMaps and better support for multiple displays! This version is surprisingly un-buggy and i recommend downloading it!

1. Download from here.

2. Buy an 8 GB USB Drive.

3. Format the USB to Mac OS X Extended Journaled to do this open Disk Utility and select the USB Thumb Drive you have inserted. Then click on the erase tab and select the Mac OS X Extended Journaled option. WARNING this will erase Everything on the USB Drive...

4. Open the OS X Mavericks 10.9 DP1.dmg this will mount a OS X Mavericks 10.9 DP1 install DVD to your desktop. Open it and once inside right click on Install OS X 10.9 Developer Preview and click show package contents. Then click contents and open the folder named SharedSupport.

5. Open the InstallESD.dmg. This will take quite long to mount but once it is done we are ready to install it onto the USB Drive.

6. Once InstallESD is mounted you then need to extract the dmg called BaseSystem.dmg to do this right click on this and click open. (it is a hidden file so right clicking is necessary)

7. Once Base System is mounted open DiskUtility. Click on the USB drive you are using for the mavericks install and select the restore tab. Then do as the picture does below.

8. Once that is done the USB will have Mavericks installed onto it but there is one more step needed. Open the USB drive and go into the folder named System. Then go into the folder called Installation. You will see a file alais called Packages, Delete that file. Then Go back to the ‘OS X Install ESD’ mounted drive, and drag & drop the “Packages” folder into the /System/Installation/ directory you just deleted the Packages alias from, let this large folder copy.

9. The USB is now ready to install Mavericks Developer Preview for Free without a developer account! All you need to do now is reboot your computer pressing alt before the apple logo appears and  then select the OS X BaseSystem Drive. Then continue the installation as usual.

I will do a post soon on how to get Mavericks on a PC when it is offically released...
